Mistletoe is generally reserved and moral when she needs to be. She is a balance between emotions and logic - and did everything in her power to help ShadowClan when Shadedstar took over. She most likely had impaired empathy abilities.
The medicine cat, Sedgebelly, decided that Mistletoe [then Newtpaw] would become a medicine apprentice. Newtpaw wasn’t happy with this, but knew that she and the medicine cat would plot to overthrow Shadedstar from his position in the Clan.
The night before going to the Moonpool to receive her medicine cat name, Newtpaw realized how unhappy she was with being a medicine cat. She wanted to fight again, and she deemed herself ‘useless.’
Though, she couldn’t leave now. Newtpaw needed to get away from the camp for a break, but Sedgebelly found her, and convinced her to stay.
Newtpaw reluctantly went to the Moonpool with Sedgebelly, earning the name Newtberry. After feeding Shadedstar holly berries, she got taken in as a kittypet.
